Meet the team at Walker Ortho

Our Family to Your Family

For over 70 years our family has served families of Northeast Alabama, with offices in Anniston and Gadsden. Dr. Joby Walker (1927-2013) was the first full-time, university-trained orthodontist in our area. Now his sons, Dr. Jay Walker and Dr. Carl Walker, carry on his legacy of patient-centric orthodontic care. We value the relationships that develop as we strive to deliver the best orthodontic treatment possible. It is an honor to now treat the grandchildren and great grandchildren of Dr. Joby Walker’s early patients.

Dr. Jay

Dr. Jay

Dr. Walker, Jr., better known as “Dr. Jay”, joined his dad in the practice in 1984 after earning his orthodontic degree from the University of Tennessee (Memphis). He is an alumnus of the Donoho School (Class of ’75), The University of Alabama (Class of ’79), and the School of Dentistry at UAB (Class of ’82). He is certified by the American Board of Orthodontics, the sole specialty board for orthodontics recognized by the American Dental Association.

Pat

Pat is the senior staff member, having joined Dr. Walker, Sr., in … well, let’s just say before Dr. Jay joined the practice. Primarily working in our Anniston office, you may find her at the patient chair, in the lab, or behind the front desk, always with a smile. When she is not helping the Walkers she is taking care of her husband, Larry, and her grandbabies. Pat also enjoys relaxing at Lake Wedowee and the beach, and searching for shopping bargains.

Beckie

Beckie

A graduate of Etowah County, Beckie now lives in Southside. Her earliest experience with us was as a patient as a young adult, referred to us by her husband, Jason, who was also a patient as a teen. After her teeth were straightened she was hired by us for front desk duties, eventually becoming a chairside assistant. These days she does it all. Beckie loves antiques, but doesn’t like chocolate.

Cherè

The Anniston office is administered by Cherè. She is a native of the Tampa Bay area of Florida, but has lived in many locales compliments of the military. She and her husband, Anthony, came to our area as part of the Depot nerve gas incineration project. They like us so much, they stayed!

Dr. Carl

Dr. Carl Walker, Dr. Jay’s “little” brother, no longer sees patients in Gadsden. He continues to see his Birmingham area patients at Dr. Joby Hurst’s pediatric dental office in the Inverness neighborhood of Birmingham.
